Megadeth David Ellefson 1983 Interview
The band's frontman and guitarist Dave Mustaine founded Megadeth in 1983 shortly after he was fired from Metallica.
The band's style has varied over the decades from thrash/speed metal to more traditional and melodic heavy rock.
In an interview, the band's original bassist David Ellefson says that Megadeth is not a real death band - that's why the name doesn't have the letter a, and the songs don't talk about death, witches, ghosts. "Rock is meant to be fun," the bassist adds.
Ellefson describes Megadeth's sound as dark, but not necessarily negative. "It all depends on how you interpret the world," he states.
David Ellefson played in Megadeth from 1983 until 2002. He rejoined the band in 2010.
